<< To start << Go back Hercules (Germany). Share information about Hercules with others Nürnberger Hercules-Werke started manufacturing bicycles in 1886. They started making motorcycles in 1905. Hercules was owned by Sachs who also bought the “Zweirad Union Company” (DKW, Victoria and Express) thereby forming the SACHS Fahrzeug- und Motorentechnik.
Hercules bikes was equipped with the legendary Sachs engines also found on Ancillotti, Monark and KTM/Penton bikes,
and a few more as well. This 100cc 1960 GS model had 7Hp and a 3 speed gearbox. Note the fork.
Famous German enduro riders has been Heinz Brinkmann and Rolf Witthöft during the 60's. In the 70's Eddy Hau and Heino Büse. American riders such as Billy Uhl, Mike Rosso, Dough Wilford and Dwight Rudder has also been riding Hercules/DKW machinery.
